Dental Hygiene Program

Did you know that your oral health is directly connected to your overall well-being? During your initial exam, we will assess the health of your gums and teeth, your jaw bone levels, and your at-home oral hygiene habits. By maintaining proper oral hygiene, you can help keep your entire body healthy, too!

Each patient has different needs, and we’ll customize an at-home dental hygiene program specifically for you. You can reduce your risk of developing many conditions, diseases and illnesses by brushing and flossing twice every day, having a dental check-up at least twice a year, and having a periodontal examination each year.

Our hygienist is trained to detect and treat mild to moderate periodontal (gum) disease.  Symptoms of disease progression are usually inflammation and infection in the gums and bone loss. Research has indicated possible links between untreated gum disease and systemic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, arthritis, stroke, osteoporosis and pre-term birth. Therefore, visiting our office regularly is imperative. If you have advanced, severe periodontal disease, we will refer you to a periodontist.
